The main thing that defines “who I am” is the fact that I am a born-again Christian who is in love with Jesus Christ, and seeks to glorify Him in all that I do.

I am a quiet, stay-at-home type who loves art.  I have morphed from one favorite expression of art to another for most of my sixty years. I thoroughly enjoyed art class in High School, where I was well taught in the basics of many expressions and media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, wood carving, and calligraphy. As time went on, my favorite artform became pen and ink drawing and calligraphy. I developed this skill, and eventually taught a calligraphy class in my town’s Community Education program. I created drawing/calligraphy projects for hire, and I designed and sold greeting cards using my art skills. Later on I developed a passion for photography, and began to combine my nature photos with my card-making skills. My blank note cards consist of a photo mounted with at least two layers of specialty or colored paper, with matching envelopes.

Photography has developed into a major area of creativity for me. I try to really capture my subject, and find an unusual or artistic composition in which to display it. Nature is my favorite subject, especially flowers, butterflies and birds. As our home remodel and landscape project grew and flourished, I enjoyed photographing the progress. Each plant in my garden is a unique gift from God, and a friend to me; and I love to share the beauty and blessings with others.

My husband and I will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary this year. We have three married children and five grandchildren. My family is the love of my life. I enjoy spending time with them, as well as gardening, knitting, reading, and writing. See my writing blog at www.journal4rhea.com.
